The White Horse of Alih (Analysis)

Setting:
A parade of people on July 4 in the city.

Characters:
Alih - a Moro who plans to kill the people in the parade
Omar - older brother of Alih
Imam - the village priest who tried to dissuade the two brother
Lucy - a girl who lived in the reservation area where the Americans live
Fermina - a beautiful bar maid with a mole near her mouth; a Christian girl
Sampang - a mountain warrior
Lim Ching - the rich Chinese merchant

Complication:
When they decide to become a merchants. The rebels stole their commodities.

Conflict:
Because of shame, Omar taught Alih to kill. They planned to kill someone on the parade.

Rising Action:
When Alih saw a girl in the float that reminds him as Fermina. He helped the girl to go down and realized that it was really Fermina because of the mole near her mouth.

Climax:
When Alih saw Omar walking towards Fermina to kill her. He realized that Omar was drunk that time.

Falling Action:
When Alih saw Omar holds his blade towards Fermina. Realization hits him that Omar wants to kill Fermina. He grab his blade to hit Omar and save Fermina from his brother.

Literary Approach:
History Approach because it talks about the parade wherein people are celebrating a big American holiday in their town.

Theme:
Its all about the faith, tradition and religion.

Summary:
4th day of July, they are celebrating a big American holiday. There was a parade and Alih was with the crowd. They are planning to kill people in the parade with his brother, Omar. As he was waiting for his brother, memories flashed to his mind. How their father killed without any reason. Back to present, he saw Fermina in the float and walks towards her to kill her. Alih saw it and killed his brother to save Fermina.
